The Shire of Broomehill Tambellup has received a planning application for a proposed new dwelling at 6 Bridge Street, Tambellup.

Due to the dry conditions, the closure of the Restricted Burning Period has been postponed until 12.00 midnight 29 April 2024.

The result of the Ordinary Election conducted as a postal vote on Saturday, 21 October 2023 has been declared.

A review of Council Policy 3.1 ‘Purchasing Policy’ has been undertaken by Council. The main focus of the proposed changes are as follows: • Simplifying the purchasing thresholds; • Defining exclusions to the policy, such as postage and freight, to increase compliance; and • Creation of a regional price preference component of the policy in accordance with Local Government (Functions and General) Regulations 1996 regulations 24A to 24G.

In its audit report for the 2020/2021 financial year, the Auditor General advised that the audit had identified a significant adverse trend in the financial position of the Shire’s Operating Surplus Ratio.

The Shire drafted a Local Planning Policy setting out Council’s position on applications for sea containers.  The Draft Policy was put out for inspection and public comment on 2 May 2022 and submissions closed on 29 May 2022. The Shire of Broomehill-Tambellup provides public notice, in accordance with s.3.12 (6) of the Local Government Act 1995, that the Shire local laws were published in the Western Australian Government Gazette, Number 123, on Tuesday 9 August 2022 and will come in to effect 14 days after that date being 23 August 2022.

Last July and August, many residents responded to a questionnaire relating to services provided by the Shire and how those services were perceived. The results of that survey have now been tabulated.
