Tambellup Railway Precinct - Draft Townscape Plan

Published on Friday, 8 December 2023 at 12:44:54 PM

Draft plans for the revitalisation of the Railway Reserve in Tambellup have been prepared and are available for community feedback.

The area in focus extends from the Gnowangerup-Tambellup Road railway crossing to the Old Station Masters House (Museum), and also incorporates the full extent of Crowden St from Norrish St to East Terrace.

The major features of the draft plans include construction of new public toilets, installation of additional  tables and seating in the area opposite the 124 Store, creation of a nature play landscaped area, relocation of the bus stop to the pull in bay opposite the Post Office, additional angle parking along the western side of Norrish St,  redesigned paved area leading from the Hall, to the War Memorial and on to the Station, landscaping of the area in front of the station to include lawn , seating and plantings, better connection of the Museum (Old Station Master's House) to the precinct, and storytelling elements.

Elements proposed for Crowden St include centrally planted trees to create an avenue of shade, footpath improvements from Norrish St through to East Terrace to better connect to the Youth Precinct and recreation facilities, and modification of the Henry St/Crowden St intersection so that traffic on Crowden St has right of way.

Copies of the draft plans are available at the 124 Store in Tambellup for your convenience.  Alternatively, they can be viewed on the Shire website.

We'd love to hear what you think!  Feedback is invited and your suggestions are welcome. These can be provided in writing to the CEO, Shire of Broomehill-Tambellup, 46-48 Norrish St Tambellup 6320, or emailed to the Shire.

These plans present an opportunity for a significant and long term upgrade to the Tambellup town centre, and as such, we would like to capture the views of as many people as we can.  To facilitate this, the consultation period will be open until 31 January 2024.
