Call for Nominations
Four Vacancies on Council
The Shire of Broomehill – Tambellup have four vacancies for the 2025 elections.
The next Shire of Broomehill-Tambellup election will take place on Saturday 18 October 2025.
The Election of Councillors is held every two (2) years in October, and the Ordinary Term of office is four (4) years.
The Broomehill-Tambellup Council is made up of seven councillors. In addition to the elected councillors, staff are employed to administer local government and are overseen by the Chief Executive Officer.
The Shire of Broomehill -Tambellup resolved at its 20 February 2025 Ordinary Meeting to hold a postal voting election conducted by the WA Electoral Commission (WAEC).
Nomination Information
If you would like to nominate for Council to stand for election for the Shire, you must:
- Be 18 years old or older
- Be an Australian citizen or a British subject prior to 26 January 1984
- Be an elector for the district
- If a current council member, have a term that ends on election day,
- Have completed the mandatory Local Government Candidate Induction which is available on the Department’s website link here
If you would like to nominate as a candidate for the 2025 Local Government Elections, nominations open Thursday 28 August 2025 and close 4.00pm, Thursday 4 September 2025.
Nominations must be lodged with the Returning Officer:
- At any time during the above period by arrangement; or
- Between 9.00am and 4.00pm Thursday 4 September 2025 (close of nominations) at the Shire of Broomehill – Tambellup, 46-48 Norrish Street, Tambellup

Enrolling to Vote
Residents of the Shire of Broomehill – Tambellup who are listed on the State and Commonwealth Rolls will be automatically enrolled to vote.
To check your enrolment status or enrol to vote, go to the Electoral Commission website.

Non – Resident Owners and Occupiers Roll
If you are enrolled to vote in State or Federal elections for an address that is not within the boundaries of the Shire of Broomehill – Tambellup, and you own or occupy a rateable property in the Shire you are eligible to make a claim to be on the Owners and Occupiers Roll as per the section 4.30 of the Local Government Act 1995.
To be eligible to vote as an owner or occupier you must:
- Be enrolled for State and Federal elections at an address outside of the Shire of Broomehill -Tambellup
- Own rateable property in the Shire of Broomehill -Tambellup
- Prove that you have a right of continuous occupation under a lease, tenancy agreement or other legal instrument
- Complete and have accepted by the Shire, a Form 2, 2A, 2B or 2C (depending on which type of claim is suitable for your circumstances).
Which form should I submit
Form 2 – If you are a sole owner or one of two owners making a claim
Form 2A – If you are a sole occupier or one of two occupiers making a claim
Form 2B – If you are one of more than two co-owners or co-occupiers of a rateable property making a claim
Form 2C – if you are a body corporate nominee making a claim
