Celebrate Spring at the 2023 Great Southern Treasures Bloom Festival
Say goodbye to winter blues and welcome the beauty of spring at the 2023 Great Southern Treasures Bloom Festival, proudly presented by WCP Civil. Running from September 23 to October 31, this year's festival promises over 55 exciting events across the picturesque Great Southern region.
The festival's event programs are now available at local Visitor Centres, offering a comprehensive guide to all the happenings and locations. With something for everyone, regardless of age, interests, or fitness levels, attendees can look forward to a diverse array of experiences. Highlights include scenic flights, wildflower walks, open gardens, long table lunches, arts and crafts exhibitions, train rides, hikes, family fun days, live music, competitions, and hands-on activities for both adults and children. It's a springtime extravaganza right at your doorstep.
The Bloom Festival is the perfect opportunity to celebrate spring in the Great Southern region. Imagine taking a scenic flight over the region's breathtaking landscapes, adorned with vibrant wildflowers in full bloom, perfectly paired with a variety of engaging events. It's a recipe for a day you won’t forget!
Starting this Friday, Great Southern Treasures, in partnership with ABC Great Southern, will be calling for the best wildflower photos to be submitted to go in the running win some fantastic prizes including 2 nights’ accommodation in the region. These can be submitted via ABC Great Southern's or the Great Southern Treasures Facebook pages before September 22.
Great Southern Treasures invite everyone to join in the fun and kick off the Bloom Festival with Katanning’s Family Festival & Eco Fair on Saturday, September 23 in Katanning’s Piesse Park from 12pm-4pm. This event, sponsored by Ausgold Limited and supported by Lotterywest and the Shire of Katanning, promises to be spectacular. Circus WA will deliver an exciting Pick up and Play workshop, featuring talented circus trainers demonstrating various skills. Attendees are welcome to join in the fun with unicycles, juggling balls, flower sticks and plate spinning. RnB Soul Train will provide smooth tunes in the amphitheatre, and Kite Kinetics will grace the sky with their colourful kite display while kids learn to make their own flower spinners.
During the six weeks following the launch, attendees won't want to miss unique events such as:
- "Walkabout with Ezzard Flowers," offering a deeper understanding of the cultural connection to the Stirling Ranges through captivating stories and song lines.
- "Bloomin' Kent Adventure," a guided bus tour showcasing Nyabing, a town bursting with vibrant wildflowers and rich history. Explore the town's native beauties, including the spider, fairy, hare, and ballerina orchids, and capture that perfect Instagrammable moment on the ‘Bloom bing swing' with the bright canola fields in the background.
- A “Sound Bath Experience” in the Porongurups to relax, release stress and leave you feeling amazingly rejuvenated or;
- Enjoy the views at “Banjelungup Blooms Long Table Lunch & Wildflower Walk” in stunning Bremer Bay and the Fitzgerald Biosphere.
